a Donegal Fatal accident

The funeral of a woman killed in a crash on Saturday afternoon last will take place on Thursday.

Siobhan Hutcheon, 38, from Ardmore, Muff, who was originally from Derry, died in the crash involving a car and a Bus Eireann coach.

Three children were in the car with her as they travelled to a holiday caravan in Donegal.

Two of them are being cared for at Altnagelvin Hospital, while the third is at the Royal Victoria Hospital.

They are all in a stable condition. The driver of the bus was not injured.

The accident happened near Newtowncunningham on the main Letterkenny Road on Saturday 3 May.

Speaking on BBC Radio Foyle on Tuesday, Fr John Farren said Mrs Hutcheon’s parents and her husband, Warren, were deeply shocked by her sudden death.

“Siobhan was a bright and bubbly girl, she was what we would call ‘civil’. She would have always had the first word, was full of craic and very friendly,” he said.

Fr Farren said the children were improving and the family hoped that the boy who is in the Royal Victoria Hospital would soon be transferred to be with the others in Altnagelvin Hospital, Derry.

He said the family were getting support to help them through a very difficult time.

“It is impossible to understand the shock,” he said.

“Warren’s wife and children had headed off for a holiday weekend down in a caravan in Kerrykeel and this news was very shocking.”

Mrs Hutcheon’s funeral is due to take place in Muff, following by burial in Derry’s city cemetery.
