Adventurer Jason Black’s latest challenge has just got a lot more difficult.

The Letterkenny mountaineer has arrived safely in Alaska in his forthcoming attempt to climb Mt McKinley.

Despite the late arrival of one of his bags sparking some extra nerves, everything else has worked out well.

Jason was shocked to hear that because he is the first person to try and attempt to climb the west side of the mountain, his efforts will be even tougher.

“Mt. Mc Kinley rangers have reported that my ascent of the brutal West Rib is to be the first ascent tried this year – making it more challenging.

“I have now got to plot my own course avoiding crevasses in the North Fork Glacier. Temperatures on the mountain are bitter and with high winds are making life very difficult.”

Donegal Daily will bring you regular updates as Jason takes on his latest challenge.

Needless to say, there will be plenty of excitement along the way.

Stay safe Jason.
