Jimmy’s Winning Elections

HARD-working Letterkenny town councillor Jimmy Kavanagh has just been elected to Donegal County Council on the 16th count.

The popular Letterkenny man was pushed over the line and past the quota thanks to a huge transfer of votes from fellow Fine Gael man Noel McBride following his elimination.

Family and friends are celebrating this morning.

There will be another count – with Cllr Kavanagh’s surplus to be shared.

The last seat remains a battle between Donal Cullen (Ind) and Mick Quinn (SF) with the Cullen camp conceding the veteran Sinn Fein politician is probably too far ahead to catch.
