WALKING GROUP – meets every Tuesday morning at 10:00 am for a walk or stroll of about 30-40 minutes with a cup of tea afterwards if you want.

DUNKINEELY IN BLOOM – this competition will brighten up the town and surrounding area. From St John’s Point to Croagh and Tullintain to Ballymagowan – if you’re in the Parish of Killaghtee, please consider entering. No fee to enter and DCL has funding from DLDC for plants and workshops to help get you started. Entry forms available from the DCL office. We’ll be looking for winners of categories such as:
> Best Business > Best small town garden > Best Church > Best school > Best vegetable plot
> Best large garden > Best container garden etc.
The main winners will be the community of Dunkineely, Bruckless and Killaghtee area if we all take part however small or big a garden plot/place for window boxes/pots we have.
So start thinking now and start planting! If you are interested contact DCL office 087 3421922 if you’d like enter or help organise in anyway. Judging will take place the first weekend in August so you have plenty of time!
A great Community event – if we all get involved!

We will be having workshops on planting up containers/hanging baskets and vegetable growing plus a few freebies to get going. WORKSHOP ON GARDENING CONTAINERS – Workshops has been organised for sowing vegetables and flowers with David Perry from Kee’s Garden Centre, Laghey.
First workshop is on Tuesday 3rd June at 8:30 pm in the Stables behind the Methodist Manse, this workshop will be sowing vegetable seeds.
FLORA MINI MARATHON – is taking place on Bank Holiday Monday, 2nd June 2014. We ask you to please support Alison, Carmel, Majella, Sharon & Jacinta who are running in this Marathon for a great cause. Only one week until the big day! Details of how to donate are on the DCL facebook page.
CASTLE MURRAY HOUSE HOTEL – is having a coffee morning on Saturday 7th June from 12 – 2pm. All “donations” on the day will be going to the services provided by Cancer Care West and their Co. Donegal residential home “Inis Aoibhinn”. The team at Castle Murray House will be all volunteering their time & services on the day. DUNKINEELY COMMUNITY LIMITED – are hosting an “ICE-CREAM FUNDAY” in aid of Down Syndrome Ireland on 20th June at the Manse in Dunkineely! It’s a date for your diary and it’s guaranteed to be fun! It’s a great way to get together with your friends and family to have fun with ice-cream all while raising funds for Down Syndrome Ireland. Please come and support this great cause!
BRUCKLESS ROAD RUNNERS – THE POINT 10k CHARITY FUN/RUN/WALK – Is taking place in Dunkineely on Saturday 16th August 2014 at 11:00am (Same route as last year). The chosen charities for this year’s event are Billy’s World Ireland and Clara House Killybegs – (Day Centre for Intellectual Disabilities). Everyone welcome! How it works: Your GP or other clinician will refer you to the Social Prescribing Co-ordinator if you are suitable for the programme or you can self refer.
The Co-ordinator will meet you to discuss our needs and the carious Social prescribing options available. You will begin your chosen activity, with support.
The Co-ordinator will meet with you after a number sessions to discuss how you are getting on and your interest in continuing with your activity.

A FESTIVAL COMMITTEE – is being organised for the Dunkineely area and we are looking for volunteers to organise and help run a range of activities. Please call 087 3421922 if you think you can help. A meeting will be held on Wednesday 28th May at 8:00 pm in the Manse. All welcome.
DUNKINEELY STABLES YOUTH – wishes to thank Byrnes Meats for sponsoring the burgers for the youth BBQ held on the beach last Saturday evening at St John’s Point as part of the weekend spent with the TOM Team from Belfast including sleepover and many fun activities. They also wish to thank Deane’s farm for the horse-riding on Saturday afternoon which provided great fun and a new skill to most of the young folk attending. A great weekend for all concerned.

DCL – has a library of over 500 books from Children’s Literature. (Roald Dhal’s Matilda, James and the Giant Peach, The BFG to J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone & The Goblet of Fire), Classics (J.R.R. Tolkien to Marian Keyes), Horror, Comedy, Booker-Prize etc. Rent a book from just 20c or perhaps DVD’s, Lego Batman or The Patience Stone from just 50c per night.
Come into the office weekday mornings from 9:30 – 12:30 pm and use the Internet (20c per half hour) or Print Documents (20c per page).
