THE Manager of Letterkenny General Hospital has today apologised for further delays in the Emergency Department today.
“Letterkenny General Hospital remains very busy today,” said Sean Murphy.
“A lot of emergency admissions over the past few days and high bed occupancy levels are still causing delays in moving patients from the Emergency Department to the wards.
“LGH would ask the public for their understanding for any delays that may occur while it responds to the current workload and to avoid attending the Emergency Department today if at all possible. Patients are asked to contact their GP or GP Out of Hours services in the first instance.
“The hospital is taking all steps to deal with the situation,” he added.
Yesterday staff contacted Donegal Daily to say there weren’t enough staff to cope .
