Siuloid An Sean Bhothar Iariann/ Burtonport Old Railway Walk

Summer Evening Walk:
Come along to St Columbas Community Centre, Acres, Burtonport and register from 9.15 to join us as we celebrate the approach of the longest day of the year with our annual Summers evening walk on The Old Railway on Friday 20th June @10.

Experience the Railway walk and its nocturnal sounds as you haven’t seen or heard it before.

On our return we are planning a short session of music to add to the atmosphere as we enjoy a nice cup of tea and a biscuit before bedtime.

Looking forward to seeing you all.

Please feel free to share the event and spread the word. Cost: €5 per person or €10 per family.

Everyone welcome.

Fundraising and development:
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to our scrap metal collection fundraiser.

We raised a grand total of €510.00 all of which is greatly appreciated as development and maintenance of this beautiful walk is ongoing.

Current additional projects which are underway include:

1. The development of map boards which will be placed at the community centre and at both the start and end of the walk and replacement signage which will correspond with the uniform signage required to become part of the national trails group of walks.

2. The development of information leaflets which will inform the walker of the various options of distances and routes to take whilst incorporating the railway walk.

We would like to thank Shaun Crean for taking on this job.

3. The replacement of the large stones with removable bollards and erecting fencing along steep embankments which will help promote safety for the walker and protection for the path.
