Rosses AC notes

Well done to Ailbhe O’ Donnell who won a silver medal in the Girls U-16 Long Jump with a personal best jump of 4.94m at the Ulster Track & Field Ch’s in Antrim Forum last weekend. Amy Hanna also qualified in the Long Jump with 4.63m. Fodhla Mc Fadden won a bronze medal in the High Jump with 1.40m and also qualified in the 250m Hurdles with a time of 40.98 sec. Saskia Boyle also had a good run in the hurdles with a time of 41.24 sec. Jessica Oglesby threw 7.99m in the Shot Putt and 16.75m in the Javelin while Rebecca Greene jumped 1.20m in the High Jump and threw 12.27m in the Javelin.

Well done to Noel Diver who ran an excellent 17:26 in the Lifford 5k and also to Brendan McBride who ran 19:53.

Many athletes are focused and training hard towards this year’s Gael Force North which takes place on Saturday 28th June. Entries are still being taken if interested. Support for all athletes on the day will be a welcome site.

Good luck to the four Rosses AC athletes heading to Tullamore for the Children’s Games on Saturday.

Aoife Mc Gee and Tara Geoghegan will be competing in the U-10 80m and Long Jump while Emma Maloney and Emma Bonner will be competing in the U-10 Turbo Javelin.

The Half and Full Donegal Marathons will take place on Sunday 24th August 2014. Every level of runner or walker is invited to participate. The 26.2 mile course will take in Letterkenny and the surrounding area. This promises to be an event which will both challenge and encourage all the participants. Discount rate available before end of June.

Juvenile training for the younger athletes in Carrickfinn is now finished for the summer.

Wednesday night training at the Industrial Estate will be put on hold for the summer months as many people are preparing for Gaelforce North, taking part in 5ks, etc and will commence again in late August.

Fit4Life is in Mulladearg on Mondays at 6pm and Wednesdays in Carrickfinn at 6pm. All levels catered for. Walkers and beginners welcome.
