GOLF NEWS: LETTERKENNY LADIES ENJOY FANTASTIC OPEN WEEK

LETTERKENNY LADIES GOLF NEWS

Open Week was a great success with members and visitors enjoying sunny weather and warm temperatures with no excuses for good scoring.

Con Boyce of Donegal Sports and Golf Centre sponsored the Tuesday Competition and have a long association with the Ladies Club. The Ladies Club would like to thank Con for his generous sponsorship.
The winner was Angela Kilgallen 37 points B.O.T., Runner– Up, Mena Breslin37 pts., Gross – Angela Bradley , 26 Gross Points and 3rd was Peggy Forde, 36 points
Visitor – Geraldine Crossan, City of Derry, 31 pts..B 9 : Celine Bradley ,21 pts.
F 9 : Grainne Hines 20 pts. The only 2 was won by Marian Keating.
Thursday’s Open was sponsored by our Resident Professional, Seamus Clinton and the winner was Vera Kearney, 38 pts., Runner – Up Monica Mc Donagh,37 ptsB O.T., Gross, Angela Bradley 23 Gross pts.,B.O.T. , 3rd Connie Reddan 37 pts.. B 9, Anne Condon ,20pts., F 9, Rena O’Herlihy,21pts..Visitor, Margaret Buckley Donegal Golf Club, 29 pts. Senior cat: BridieGildea 36pts.. 36hcp. Winner was Patricia O’Sullivan with 32pts. 2’s; Maureen Sweeney, Cynthia Fueryand Marian O’ Sullivan. Congratulations to all the winners. Seamus Clinton invited the winners ie 1st 2nd and 3rd placed to join him in the Pro Am in the Farnham Estate with golf, dinner and transport included on a fantastic day out on 5th Sept. What a fantastic prize to win; enjoy ladies as there are many waiting to take your place!
There were 3 nine hole competitions and the winners will be announced next week along with the winner of Golfer of Open Week.
Congratulations to Marian Keating’s Intermediate Team who defeated Ballyclare on Sunday, qualifying for the quarter finals of The Ulster District. The team was Celine Markey, Monica McDonagh, Vera Kearney, Karen McGlinchey and Eileen Williamson. They won 3 matches and 2 halves to secure victory.
The Challenge Team and the Junior Team play their matches away this week against Mahee Island in Co Down and City of Derry respectively. Good Luck to the teams. The Maura O’Donnell Team , captained by Celine Bradley, fought gallantly in Gweedore and only lost by 3 Holes. Such is golf, always down to the last putt. We wish Gweedore continued success in the competition.
The July Medal draw is on the notice board. The mixed foursome draw is done and available in the Ladies Locker room with July 5th the first round deadline.
