Tir Chonaill Gaels PicTir Chonaill Gaels Club Notes:

Juniors:

Our junior team played Garryowen in the league last Sunday and failed to hold onto a half time lead and eventually going down by five points.

Hopefully we can put our recent poor performances behind us and get ourselves up for our forthcoming championship match against Eir Og this Saturday.

Final score; TCG 2-10 Garryowen 3-11.

Fixtures:

This weekend our Junior and Senior teams start their respective championship campaigns with the following fixtures;

Saturday 5th July JFC, TCG V Eir Og @ Greenford 4.30pm

Sunday 6th July SFC, TCG V Neasden Gaels @ Ruislip 4.30pm

Upcoming league matches,

Tuesday 8th July, SFL Div1, TCG V Fulham Irish @ Ruislip 7.30pm.

Thursday 10th July, SFL Div1, TCG V St Kiernans @ Ruislip 7.30pm

Under 21s:

Our under 21 team were supposed to play in the championship semi final last week against Parnells but were given a walkover into the final.

The final was due to take place last Saturday against Tara but they were unable to field on the day, so hopefully we will have a game to contest in the coming weeks.

ABC World Record Attempt:

The World Record attempt will take place on Friday 11th July for the most amount of players in a Gaelic Football match. This was attempted last year and indeed surpassed the existing record (399) in terms of numbers.

The ABC committee has put a lot of effort in this year to ensure that the rules are adhered to. Breaking this record would be a huge statement for Irish culture abroad so we need to take this responsibility very seriously in every club.

We need all clubs to put their shoulder to the wheel and get to Tir Chonaill Gael’s ground as early as possible on Friday 11th. We need every available player in Greenford. The record will start at 16.45 and should go on until 20.30. I appreciate it is slightly early on a Friday but ask that players make a special effort to get there as soon as possible and leave work slightly early.

Upon arrival players will sign their name beside a number, and collect a ticket with that number on it. They will then filter onto the pitch for a ten minute participation, with the Goalie and Full back line changing, then the half back line, mid field, half forward, full forward and so on – on both sides – for as long as we can keep it going. The game has to be continuous.

The ABC committee look forward to seeing you on Friday 11th. Early confirmation of which teams you will bring and numbers would be greatly appreciated.

It will be a very enjoyable evening in Greenford, with sport, music, historical records, dancing and plenty of fun. Contact Michael Kingston on 07814898225 for details.

Lottery:

Lotto results for 26/06/2014 Jackpot £2,250

Numbers drawn 1-6-8-19, No jackpot winners, £25 lucky dip winners, Martin Sweeney, c/o TCG, John McNicholas, c/o TCG, Paddy Callaghan, Co Meath, Denis Boyle, TCG.
