Great news from Spain – Oisin Merritt is expected to be brought back home in the next week or so to complete his rehabilitation in Ireland.

Oisin Merritt, the Stranorlar teenager injured while on holiday in Santa Ponsa, is to be brought back home to complete his rehabilitation.

It signals a remarkable turnaround in his condition which at one stage looked very bleak.

Just over a fortnight ago, Oisin’s family issued a statement saying he wasn’t responding to treatment and urged people to keep praying for him.

However, the Finn Harps U19 star began to fight back, and just last week awoke to ask how Brazil were doing at the World Cup – as he had a bet on them to win the competition!

Doctors have described his turnaround as a miracle, and said he has been reborn.

The Villa Rose Hotel, were Oisin works as a bartender, released a statement earlier.

“We’ve had an update from Oisin Merrit’s father this morning to say that he has no infection in the brain.

“The next step is to prepare to bring him home to complete his rehabilitation here in Ireland hopefully in the next week or so, great news.”
