Happy couple Kevin and Laura McDaid recently had the most perfect wedding.

But there was one very special guest missing from the nuptials.

As they walked down the aisle, they couldn’t help thinking of their beloved pet dog Freddie who went missing just days before the ceremony.

Freddie, a black pug, had vanished from outside the couple’s home in Letterkenny on May 25th last.

And despite a massive search and exhausting every avenue looking for Freddie, loving Kevin and Laura had resigned themselves to the fact that they may never see Freddie again.

The couple married at St Eunan’s Cathedral and then had the most amazing wedding with 400 guests at the Mount Errigal Hotel on June 14th.

They went on honeymoon with Freddie still in the backs of their minds.

However while the well-known DJs soaked up the sun and their first days as Mr and Mrs, a lot of work was going on in the background.

Unbeknown to them, a dog matching Freddie’s description had been found at a market in Cavan.

A couple got in contact with a friend of Laura and despite a Skype call, friends of Laura and Kevin could not be 100% sure it was him.

In stepped Donegal Pet Rescue who loaned Kevin’s brother Brian their Microchip Scanner to check if it was indeed Freddie.

And two hours later Freddie’s true identity was confirmed.

Kevin and Laura were told the brilliant news with just a couple of days left of their honeymoon.

There were truly emotional scenes when the happy couple were reunited with their “baby.”

Laura said “We had the most amazing wedding and everyone was so good to us.

“But as much as we tried we couldn’t help but think of what happened to Freddie and where he was.

“We can’t even describe how we felt when we got the call that Freddie was safe and coming home. We were speechless.

“Our life together is now just perfect – now that Freddie is back.”
