ambulanceA woman has been taken to hospital after being knocked down outside the Inishowen Gateway Hotel in Buncrana.

The woman was knocked down at a roundabout on the main road from Buncrana to Derry.

It is believed the woman was attempting to cross at the roundabout when she was struck by the oncoming vehicle.

A number of emergency personnel attended the scene and the woman was then rushed to hospital for further treatment and assessment.

It is not known how seriously injured the woman is.

Traffic was disrupted for a considerable period, but it has returned to normal now after Gardaí finished surveying the area after the woman was removed from the scene.
