MCCARRON SCREAMER NOT ENOUGH TO EARN HARPS WIN AT TOLKA

finn harps logoFinn Harps have been left frustrated yet again after failing to secure all three points against high-flying Shelbourne at Tolka Park.

For the third game in-a-row Finn Harps have been held to a stalemate after two consecutive 0-0 draws with Cobh Ramblers and Galway United respectively.

The visitors went ahead after 33 minutes when McCarron unleashed a sizzling half volley that flew into the top corner.

Shels were shell-shocked and Harps bombarded them for the rest of the half and should have been further ahead at the interval.

In the second-half Shelbourne upped the tempo and got back into it when they were awarded a penalty after 61 minutes.

The penalty was expertly dispatched by the impressive Coughlan.

Harps responded well and Sean McCarron could have added two more goals to his account in the latter stages but the Derry man saw his efforts drift narrowly wide.

Next up for Harps is Wexford at Finn Park next Friday, which is a must win game for Ollie Horgan’s troops if they are to keep their promotion hopes alive.
