The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland has today announced the decision of the Contract Awards Committee regarding the award of the contract for a local, broad-format radio service for Sligo, North Leitrim and South Donegal.
“A contract has been awarded in principle to North West Broadcasting Limited (t/a Ocean FM) for the provision of the radio service for the franchise area of Sligo, North Leitrim and South Donegal,” says the BAI.
“The Authority will now proceed to contract negotiations with the successful applicant and further details regarding the award of the contract will be issued in the coming months.”
Coast FM – run by Mid-West Radio and the previous holders of the license – had been hoping to regain a license it had held for 14 years.
Former Donegal All-Ireland winner Martin McHugh was part of the Coast FM bid.
