On a relatively quiet weekend for triathlons the main story is that four junior members have been selected for training with the national junior academy.

This is out of a total of six in Ulster altogether.

This is the first step towards making the national junior high performance squad. The club has three affiliated coaches

Michael Black , Gavin Crawford and Lisa Dalton.

The four juniors attending are Aoibheann O grady, Ben Carr, Aideen Kelly and Emma Tinney.

We all wish them well.

Julie McGoohan performed well in the sprint race in Glenarm. She and husband Damian are taking it in turns to race over the Summer season.

Eugene McGettigan racing in the Donegal Cycling league is leading the way as the season enters the final stages.

In the Lough Fern adventure race there were good performances from Db Shields, Adrian McGettigan, Killian Nulty, Adrian McGettigan, Paul Lynch, Martin Bond, Adrian Wasson and Orla Cullen.

Barry Mclaughlin also performed well in his first Olympic distance Triathlon in Mayo.

The main event on Saturday the 2nd of august is the Lough Macrory Sprint Triathlon which is a National Series race. Brian Sweeney organised a group to go up for a trial run which is typical of his attention to detail.

Training continues as follows

Tuesday Track 7.45 p.m Aura

Wednesday Pool swim 8.00p.m Aura

Thursday TT or Brick 8.00 p.m Foxhall
