TIRConaill_Kildarragh Fair AdvertA4Since its inception in 2003, The Kildarragh Fair has raised a staggering amount of money for a whole host of different charities across Donegal and this year it’s hoping it can raise a whole lot more.

Raising finances for charitable organisations in the current economic climate can be difficult but organisers of the fair are hoping this year can be another hugely successful weekend for all involved.

The 11th Annual Kildarragh Fair kicked off on Tuesday and will last until Sunday 10th August.

The Kildarragh Fair Annual Charity Event as we know it, actually originated in 2003 with the organisation of the first Railway Walk between Muckish and Falcarragh, returning to McCarry’s Bar, Kildarragh.

Following the 2005 Kildarragh School Reunion the popular Kildarragh Fair Charity Event has continued to be a huge success every year since, in raising much needed funds for both local and national charities.

The Kildarragh Fair is a very popular community event and is organised each year by the McCarry family with the wholehearted help and support of the local community.

There is something for everyone at this year’s Kildarragh Fair.

Some of this year’s events include – The Annual Bus Tour, The Irish Night, American Theme Night, Kayaking & Curragh Race, Charity Football Match, Country Concert, Annual Hill Walk, 20k Mountain Bike Challenge, Classic Car Show, Sheep Show.

Fun Day for Kids, Archery, Arts & Crafts, Storytelling, Tug-o-War, Tossing the Sheaf, Charity Auction, 5K Road Race, Celebrity DJ/Disco, Show’n’Shine, Off Road Jeeps Demonstration, Live Music and much more.

Music Acts this year include: Declan Nerney, iradio’s DJ Steven Cooper, Anthem (London based Rock Band), The Regulators

The main beneficiaries from the Kildarragh Fair so far have been

The Children’s Ward – Letterkenny General Hospital

M.S. and Spinal injuries

Sudden Adult Death Syndrome

Dyslexia (Letterkenny branch)

Irish Kidney Association

Donegal Mental Health Patient’s Comfort Fund

Donegal Mountain Rescue

Muckish Development Association

Creeslough & Dunfanaghy Playgroups

This year the Donegal Downs Syndrome Association has been selected as the main beneficiary from the proceeds of the 2014 Kildarragh Fair.

This is a great opportunity to promote and raise much needed funds for the Association locally so please come along to the Kildarragh Fair this year to support this very worthwhile charity.

For event details and enquiries please contact – Hugh McCarry 086 824 3814.
