Sunday 10th August – Presidents Prize (Mr Michael Neary).

While Rory McIlroy was moving to 4 Major victories Michael “D” Gallagher stayed on his heels when picking up his 3rd Presidents Prize on Sunday.

Having endured a shoulder injury in the last year or so which restricted his enjoyment of the links Michael has returned with some excellent play lately and had 41pts in tough conditions.

Darren McDaid took 2nd from Michael McGroary both of whom had 38pts. John Joe Travers was one shot further back on 37pts and John Meehan took the gross with 30pts. Frank Bourke was best of the Past Presidents. The Juniors competed on Saturday and the winner was Damien Mulhern. President Michel Neary presented the prizes in the clubhouse following a very enjoyable meal and referred to the recognition he received as President of the club, and this he said was a tribute to the esteem in which the course is held both in Ireland and abroad.

Our two remaining teams the Maire O’Donnell Team and the Miele Team have bowed out of their respective competitions. The Miele Team reached the semi final of the Region. On their way there they had overcome Blacklion, Bundoran, Portsalon, and Ballyliffen but were thwarted by a strong Slieve Russell team on the 4th August. Thanks to team managers Crona O’Reilly, Bernie Treacy, Geraldine Gorman, team members and panel for their time and commitment during the summer.
