A good crowd of 32 golfers braved the Donegal weather, our president Mr. Dennis O’Donnell led with a power house drive showing the rest of the field this is how its done on home soil.

The winner was Keiran Sweeney, (with his new lamp, no problem finding balls now) 2nd was Tony Duffy, and 3rd was the seasoned golfer Paddy O’Gorman.

Cat 1 – 1st M P O’Donnell, 2nd Shane Gallagher. Cat 2 – 1st Michael McElhinney, 2nd Shane Thompson. Cat 3 – 1st Eamonn McGlynn, 2nd James McDaid (The Doc) Cat 4 – 1st James Friel, 2nd Martin Houston.

Front 9 went to up and coming new star of the society Liam Sweeney and back 9 went to the veteran of the society Martin Kelly.

Longest Drive – Paddy O’Gorman – Nearest the Pin – Tony Duffy.

The 2’s went to M P O’Donnell. After the golf there was refreshment laid on in the Shamrock Bar, well done to you dennis, the food was brilliant.

A special word of thanks goes to dennis’ wife Mary for the lovely spread of Seafood in the Glencar Inn for the presentation.

Next outing will be Captains Day on sunday 7th September, Tee Off – 12 o’clock in Letterkenny Golf Club – see ya!
