RIVER LINKS PROJECT CONFERENCE TO EXPLORE “OPPORTUNITIES IN RURAL AREAS”

untitled (43)To mark the completion of the River Links Project, Donegal County Council is hosting this one day cross border conference with the theme of “Opportunities in Rural Areas”.

The conference will be held on 17th September 2014 in the Villa Rose Hotel, Ballybofey, Co. Donegal.

About the Project

Donegal County Council and its project partners are currently in the process of completing the River Links Project.

The Project is supported by the European Union’s INTERREG IVA Programme.

The project aims to encourage rural development between East Donegal and West Tyrone.

The project partners are Strabane District Council and BASICC (Ballybofey & Stranorlar Integrated Community Company Ltd).

Specific outputs of the Project include the following:

Construction of the Community Enterprise Centre, Stranorlar

Clady-Doneyloop Walkway

Clady Village and Bridge Improvements

The Foyle Wetlands Project

Foyle & Finn Rural Network

About the Conference

The conference will showcase the outputs of the River Links Project.

It will also provide an opportunity to hear about a range of successful initiatives developed in rural areas on the Island of Ireland and how a rural location can be a major advantage.

The conference will focus on four main themes:

• ICT as an Economic Driver

• Tourism Product Development

• Economic Development

• Village Renewal

This conference will be of relevance to anyone active or interested in rural development, tourism and business.

There will be wide range of speakers from the business and community as well as public sector organisations.

Guest speakers will include:

John McNamara – Sendmode, Co. Donegal

Darren Nugent – Pokertree Brewing Company, Co. Tyrone

Suzanne O’Brien – Mulranny Park Hotel, Co. Mayo

Valerie Blake – Broughshane & District Community Association Limited, Co. Antrim
