BOOK LAUNCH

The launch of the book Oileán na Márbh will take place in Leo’s Tavern Meenaleck on Saturday August 30th at 9.30pm. Oileán na Márbh is a novel set in the Lower Rosses in 1897. It’s a story of landscape and history, of love and loss, of change and challenge to cultural norms, of clergy and community, of misunderstanding and rumour, of responsibility and redemption. Music on the night will be provided by Clann Mhic Ruairí and Brí. Everyone is welcome.

CLASSES AND ACTIVITIES

That time of year is upon us again. Coiste Forbartha Anagaire will launch their programme of winter classes and activities in September. We hope to start the same classes and activities as last season but we are open to ideas for the community. We hope to hold an Art class on Saturday around noon, if this time suits and you are interested in taking part in the class contact us at annagryhall@gmail.com or by mobile 087 1935066. Other activities will include Hip Hop, Crochet, Gaeilge, Set Dancing, Music, Pilates, Aerobics, Genealogy, Social Media, Currach Building, Flytying and much more.

RECORD POTATO

Hugo Sharkey had a surprise discovery this week when digging his potato crop at his lakeside croft in Annagry West. Measuring over nine inches in length, it must be one of the largest specimens ever to be grown in the region. The variety is Désirée, taken from East Anglia earlier in the season. It certainly has made its self at home in the fertile limestone furrows of the Murlough shores.

TABLE QUIZ

A Table Quiz in aid of Keadue Band will be held in Caisleain Óir Annagry on Wednesday September 3rd at 10pm. Teams of four €20 per table. Thank you for your continued support.

LOTTO

There was no winner of the €1760 jackpot in the Naomh Muire Club Lotto for August 20th. The numbers drawn were 2-14-20-21. Sarah O’Donnell Keadue and Tony Doherty Carraig a’ Choill Rann na Feirste matched 3 numbers. The jackpot on August 27th is €1820. If you’re not in, you can’t win!
