There is no full-time Garda presence on the island serving the population of approximately 140 people.

However officers pay occasional visits to the island.

Community Liaison Officer, Sgt Paul Wallace, said members will travel to the island this week to meet with locals.

“It has ben a long summer for the islanders and we want to let them know they have our support.

“If there are any issues, then we will discuss them and work them out. The visit is aimed at letting the islanders know that they have our full support,” he said.

As well as Sgt Wallace, Sgt John Joe McClafferty from Burtonport and Garda Patrick McGlynn, will also travel to Tory.
