Former Finn Harps player and Clonmany native Stephen McLaughlin impressed on his debut for Notts County on Tuesday night.

The talented winger joins Notts County on loan for one month from city rivals Nottingham Forest.

Stuart Pearce opted to let McLaughlin go on loan, despite impressing for Forest in last week’s Capital One Cup defeat to Spurs at White Hart Lane.

Pearce feels McLaughlin will benefit from the loan deal by getting much needed game time under his belt and is very much in his long-term plans.

McLaughlin started in the 2-0 victory over Crewe Alexandra and set-up the second goal for striker Jake Cassidy.

McLaughlin was impressive and showed his class throughout the match.

Next up for McLaughlin and Notts County is the visit of Gillingham on Saturday at Meadow Lane.
