GOLF LOGODunfanaghy Golf Club Notes:

It was a quiet weekend In Dunfanaghy after the excitement of last weekend, but there was still good numbers on the course over the weekend.

We had the Past Captains outing on Saturday with 18 Past Captains taking part. A lovely meal was enjoyed by everyone in the clubhouse afterwards and there was plenty of tales from years gone by. Well done to Neil Mc Ginley who was victorious on the day. Well done to St. Michael’s GAA teams who won their respective championship games in Kilcar on Sunday. All roads will lead to Glenswilly this weekend where we hope they qualify for the quarter finals of the championship. The Stewart Bam V par competition GOY takes place this Sunday. If you wish to qualify for the top twenty end of year competition, make sure you help your case by entering this Sunday.

The Winter Open 4BBB competition has just started on the 1st of October. This competition is great because you can play any day of the week, with whoever you want and as many times as you want until you qualify. There are four monthly winners each month who go forward to the Grand Final on the 21st of June 2014. The first three pairs qualify automatically and then the fourth pair will be the best recorded score by a 4BBB made up of club members each month. The 4BBB can be any combination and it would be great to see mixed pairs taking part as a follow on from the great competition ran by John and Cheryl Chambers this summer. All details of the competition can be seen on posters displayed in the clubhouse.

We hope to have the Captain –v- Presidents on the Saturday 25th of October (Halloween bank holiday weekend) and we shall be circulating details of this competition in the next week. It promises to be a great day.

Finn Dalton completed the picture last Saturday with his impressive win, this now means that all the recent transferees from the Cadets to the main section have lifted 1st prize. In second place was Conor Gallagher. In the cadet section Ben King came out on top thanks to a much improved putting stroke with Andy Ward claiming “Shot of the Day” again.

New Year’s Eve At The Clubhouse

We are pleased to announce that the very enjoyable New Year’s Eve Party held at the Clubhouse last year is again being organised. The Band, which by all accounts, “made the party” have again been booked. Food, although yet to be arranged, will be along the same lines as last year. The cost will again be €30 per person and numbers will be strictly limited to sixty people on a “first come” basis. No tickets will be issued, and bookings can only be confirmed on receipt of full payment. Mary will be in charge of all bookings and as this will sell out very quickly I would advise those interested to contact her immediately and pay by card over the phone.

As this is not priced as a fund raising exercise there will be no refund for those having booked but unable to attend.

If however, you are unable to attend please contact Mary and you will be put in touch with someone on the waiting list willing to buy your ticket.
