Pearse Doherty: Expressed sadness at job losses

Sinn Féin Deputy Pearse Doherty has expressed his sadness at the news that Gweedore based company ‘Nuance’ is to close next month with the loss of some fourteen jobs.

“This shock announcement by Nuance will come as a huge shock to all the workers at the company who have no doubt been dealt a huge blow as a result of this devastating news today,” he said.

“The confirmation that the local Nuance outlet is set to go out of business in the coming weeks is also a massive loss to Gweedore and to the surrounding areas, and will have a negative impact on the economic landscape in this part of Donegal.

“On what was otherwise a fantastic day on the jobs front, what with the announcement by Randox that it is to expand its operations in Dungloe, this decision by Nuance has caused great sadness, particularly to the workers and their families.

“I would appeal to Údarás na Gaeltachta to do all it can to ensure that these jobs can be saved, and I now call on the authority to explore every possible avenue which could possibly see these workers being redeployed to different companies which receive Údarás support.”
