OVER THREE HUNDRED people showed up at the Swilly Group building today to learn about the range of FREE Momentum Training and Job activation programmes starting in November.

In an extremely well organised event, a series of presentations were made by Swilly Group staff to hundreds of Long Term Unemployed who were invited to the event by the Department of Social Protection.

The presentations provided information on the content and support available on the different programmes and how interested parties can register for participation.

The Swilly Group will provide a range of programmes in areas such as Bus and Truck Driving, Warehousing and Transport Management, Childcare, Hospitality and Surf Instruction and Lifeguarding.

The courses are FREE to persons who have been on Job Seekers Allowance/Benefit and actively seeking work for 12 months or more.

They are funded by the Government under Momentum and involve job seeking support, certified vocational training and a period of work placement providing an excellent opportunity for persons to secure employment.

Karl Sweeney, Director of Training at the Swilly Group told Donegal Daily, “At the start of 2014, we visited and talked to a lot of employers, and their representative groups across a range of industry sectors.

“We discussed their future employment needs and the skills they wanted in new employees.

“We designed our momentum programmes to meet the needs of these employers.

“This inclusive approach will increase the chances of securing work placement and full time employment for graduates from our different programmes.

“A key aspect of Momentum is we create that all important link between the participant and the employer and support the participants make a smooth transition into employment.

A second information day will take place at the Swilly Group Building today with presentations taking place at 10am and 2pm.

Anyone interested in attending is invited to show up at the Swilly Group building at either of these times.

A number of staff will be on hand to answer all questions and queries.

Alternatively, to find out more about any of the Swilly Group Momentum programmes, visit the website at www.swillygroup.com or contact our office at (074) 91 51212.
