The identical twin sister of missing Mary Boyle has pleaded with Gardai to keep her informed of developments in the hunt for her missing sibling.

The plea comes after a man was arrested but released without charge in connection with the six year old’s disappearance.

But Ann Boyle says Gardai never informed her about the arrest of sex offender Brian McMahon, 64.

Ann says the first thing she knew about a possible breakthrough in the case was when she took a call form a reporter.

“She said “I got a shock. I just couldn’t believe it.

“This as the first arrest in the case ad I was hearing on the news that it was a major development. I was totally blown away.

“I would have thought Gardai, who tipped of journalists in advance, could have phoned me

“I was devastated by that. She was my sister, my twin and I was the last one to know. The whole country knew before I did,” she said.

Ann said that a cold case team who revisited the case of missing Mary in 2009, too a statement form her in which she tried to remember as much detail as possible.

“I heard nothing from the Garda since, absolutely nothing.

“Then this happens this week and I feel totally abandoned,” she added.
