A NEW branch of Right2Water is to be established for West Donegal after a large crowd attended a public meeting in Gort a’ Choirce last night.

Right2Water West Donegal chairman Owen Curran said said the attendance showed that people across the county are determined to bring an end to water charges before they begin.

“We are delighted with the crowd that attended our Right2Water meeting. People from all across west Donegal from Dungloe to Cresslough attended. It was agreed to establish Right 2Water West-Donegal, we will be holding meeting in all parishes over the next number of weeks,” Mr Curran told Donegal Daily last night.

“Our next meeting is taking place on Thursday 20th November in Ionad Naoimh Padraig Dobair at 8pm. We want to encourage all people from across West Donegal to attend.”

He added: “A range of topics were covered in the meeting, including organising to support individuals against water meter installation. The disgraceful standard of our water supply and the next steps we will be taking as a committee.

“We will also be holding a peaceful march against the water charges on Saturday 29th November in Gaoth Dobhair. And we also have a petition which we are asking people to sign.

“As chairman of the group, I am asking as many individuals and groups to attend the meeting in Dobhair and get involved in the campaign. Together we are stronger.”
