WOMAN PLEADS GUILTY TO STEALING €6,778 USING ILLEGAL CHEQUEBOOK

A Letterkenny woman has pleaded guilty to stealing more than €6,000 by illegally using a chequebook.

Fiona Devine, 41, of 18 St Columba’s Terrace, appeared at Letterkenny District Court today.

Garda Inspector Goretti Sheridan said the total amount of money involved was  €6,778 using 25 cheques.

Ms Devine was charged with both theft and making gains by deception on October 1st, 2013.

Among the premises allegedly defrauded was Ben Sweeney Electrical in Dungloe, La Maison, Letterkenny, Gibson Farm Services, Letetrkenny Chamber, Callaghans Motor Services, Burt, Tinney’s Oil, Letterkenny, Charles Kelly, Letterkenny and Private Collections of Letterkenny Shopping Centre.

Judge Denis McLoughlin adjourned the case until February 16th, 2014 for hearing and sentencing.
