DDTV: Simply click play on the video above to watch owner of The Counter Deli & Wine Richard Finney show you a quirky way to open a bottle of wine.

If you don’t have a bottle opener, then getting a bottle of wine open was obviously not an easy task, until now.

We’ve all tried and failed miserably with all sorts of different objects to attempt to prise open the cork in a bottle of wine and made a mess of it.

Now we all have shoes, so if you happen to find yourself with a bottle of wine and no bottle opener don’t panic.

As Richard displays in the video simply place the wine in the shoe and batter the shoe off the wall.

It doesn’t sound easy, nor would you think that practise would be effective, but as Richard shows it is very effective.

Richard’s quirky and fun video has gone viral online with well over 100,000 views on YouTube.

The video also appeared on the Science Channel in the USA and also was viewed by over 100,000 people.

It’s so simple, it’s brilliant.
