Letterkenny Court.

Letterkenny Court.

Ying Chen, of Gortnavern, Letterkenny was due to appear before a special sitting of Letterkenny District Court today.

However the 36 year old did not appear in court.

Instead her victim told the court how on November 15th of last year, Chen was attacked in the car park of The Cope store in Dungloe while she was out shopping.

The woman said she came behind her in her car and then pulled her from her car and began slapping her face.

She had to be treated in hospital but has not suffered from any long-term injuries, she said.

Her attacker also threatened her and said she would use her car to kill her if she ever saw her in Letterkenny or anywhere in Donegal.

The accused did not appear in court.

Her solicitor Patsy Gallagher said he had tried to contact Chen but she had not responded.

Judge Denis McLoughlin said he was going to issue a bench warrant for the woman’s non appearance but because she had no previous convictions, he would deal with the matter by way of a fine.

He fined Chen €200 for assault and ordered €100 witness expenses to the victim who had traveled from Mayo for the case.
