Lifford Celtic 2 Gweedore Celtic 6
Gweedore raced into an early three goal lead following defensive and goalkeeping errors on Lifford’s part. Thomas Diver, Jamie Boyle and Colin Ferry finding the net. Following Gweedore’s third Lifford struck back as Ross Porter found the net on 25 minutes. Lifford possibly should have been level come half-time striking the crossbar and drawing a number of saves from Mc Kelvey. Gweedore extended their lead early in the second half when a Colin Ferry shot gave McGuire no chance in the Lifford goal. Jamie Boyle grabbed his second and Gweedore’s fifth on the hour mark. Mark Neeson struck back immediately from the penalty spot to leave the score 5-2 for the visitors. As the final whistle loomed Peter McGee got on the score-sheet to round off a fine performance from Gweedore.
Cappry Rovers 5 Milford United 2
Cappry Rovers secured the points from this game against Milford United in Cappry Park. Milford opened the scoring in the tenth minute when Gary Merritt scored following a corner. Malachy Martin got Cappry’s fifth goal in the eighty ninth minute. Brendan Mc Laughlin, Malachy Martin and Michael Lafferty were best for Cappry.
Damien Casey and Mark Flood were best for Milford. Referee: Paddy Martin.
Donegal Town 0 Glenea United 2
Both teams started this game cautiously and the first half was played out with chances few and far between. The best chance of the half fell to Glenea’s Damien Mac Lochlainn, who turned quickly inside the box and fired just wide of the post. The game remained scoreless at halftime. In the second half the game opened up more. Glenea got the breakthrough when they were awarded a penalty for a foul inside the Donegal box. Padraig Mc Gee made no mistake from the spot, firing high into the roof of the net. This sparked Donegal to life and the Town pressed hard for an equaliser. Donegal’s Aidan McFadden’s shot narrowly wide and Conor Mc Monagle’s long range effort forced a super save from Glenea’s keeper Joe Coll. Glenea sealed all three points late in the game when Martin Mc Guire tapped home from close range following an excellent counterattack. Glenea’s Kevin McFadden deserves a quick mention. McFadden was excellent throughout the game breaking up Donegal’s play and winning possession for Glenea in the centre of the park.
Watson Hire Division One
Whitestrand United 2 Castlefin Celtic 6
On a brisk clear winters day Whitestrand United took on the form team of the division Castlefin Celtic. Whitestrand started the match on the front foot and Paul Lynch had a header well saved by the keeper. Castlefin took the lead when Ian Ward headed in a superb delivery. Whitestrand responded well and had a few chances. The pressure finally told when Paddy Sheridan bundled the ball over the line. This was no more than Whitestrand deserved as they had the better of the first half. The second half started with Castlefin getting two quick fire goals from JP Malley and Barry Tourish. Whitestrand responded well and Paul Lynch scored a towering header. Whitestrand pushed hard for the equaliser but Castlefin just picked them off with more goals from Tourish and Malley completing his hat-trick. The result was harsh on Whitestrand but the game ended 6-2. Best for Castlefin was Malley and a good effort by Whitestrand.
Keadue Rovers 4 Curragh Athletic 0
Keadue Rovers made it three wins out of three to continue their impressive run with this good victory against Curragh at Central Park. Keadue took the lead when Conor Greene got on the end of a right wing cross and volleyed to the net. Curragh came close to equalising on thirty five minutes when a free kick was brilliantly saved by Ciaran Sharkey. The home side upped the tempo for the last five minutes of the half and were rewarded on thirty nine minutes when Adam Neely shot home from close range. It was 3-0 on forty one minutes when Ryan Greene tapped in at the far post. Keadue made the game safe on sixty seven minutes when the ball was laid off outside the box to Sean Bonner and his shot went low to the corner of the net.
Curragh kept working hard and had a good effort just wide on seventy five minutes while at the other end Ryan Greene almost made it five, shooting just wide. Best for Curragh were Gary Heaney, Troy McCormack and Jason Sweeney while best for Keadue were Adam Neely, Ryan Greene and Jack O’Brien. Referee: Liam Farren
Lagan Harps 0 Kilmacrennan Celtic 2
Kilmacrennan earned three vital points with this win in Manor. They started the stronger and Christy Connaghan forced Damien Mc Fadden in to an early save. They took the lead on fifteen minutes when Timmy Burke was left free to head in a Christy Connaghan corner. Lagan went close on forty minutes when Darren Doran headed against the crossbar from a Kevin Kelly corner. Kilmacrennan may have edged the first half but Lagan had the better of the second forty five. Lagan wasted a gilt edged chance on eighty minutes. Stephen O’Donnell pulled a ball back from the byeline but Mark Harkin side footed wide. Kilmacrennan sealed the points on eighty two minutes when Timmy Burke waltzed through a couple of tackles. Although the ball finished in the net play was pulled back for a penalty. Gary Gorman applied a cool finish to wrap up the points. For Lagan Conal Mc Gonagle, Ronan Gibson and Darren Doran were best. For Kilmacrennan Ryan Shields, Christy Connaghan and the ageless Timmy Burke excelled, Referee: John Coyle
Gweedore United 1 Kerrykeel ’71 F.C. 1
This game played in glorious conditions at Carrickboyle saw both sides go home with a share of the spoils. The home side started the better with the first real chance coming on 14 minutes when Odhran Molloy rattled the post from 18 yards and Friel in the visitor’s nets saved the follow up chance. In the 20th minutes Jonathan Harkin hit the crossbar following good play by United. In the 25th minute Kerrykeel had a good shot by Colm Mc Gonigle excellently saved by Shaun Mc Clafferty in the United nets. The breakthrough for the visitors came in the 35th minute when the ball fell to Johnny “Nanny” Friel following a defensive error. The experienced Friel coolly finished to make it 1-0. In the 58th minute United got their deserved equaliser when a great cross by Johnny Harkin was well finished by Michael Connolly from 6 yards. The game could have went either way with decent chances at both ends but a draw was probably a fair result on the day. Seimi “Coshia” Friel and Mark “Sparky” Friel played well for Kerrykeel with Frank Mc Gee outstanding for United.

CT Ball Division Two
Ballybofey United 5 Dunlewey Celtic 0
Ballybofey United produced one of their best performances of the season to date when they entertained Dunlewey Celtic at the Finn Valley Complex on Sunday afternoon. Mark Griffin put the home side one up within the first ten minutes but somehow the hosts failed to add to the scoreline in the opening period. Five minutes into the second half Mark Marley got the first of his brace to calm the Ballybofey nerves. Marley registered again and two goals from Damien Glackin assured Ballybofey moved up a place in the League Table by securing this victory over the League’s 3rd placed team.
Glenree United 1 Eany Celtic 0
In perfect conditions the home side collected the three points. The first half was tightly contested but the home side were creating the better chances. In the 20th minute the away keeper did well to save a low driven shot from Patrick Mc Groddy and ten minutes later a header from Kevin Doherty. The second half continued in the same manner with the home outfit dominating the play and finally in the 69th minute the deadlock was broken when Barney Boyce unleashed a swerving dipping drive to deceive the keeper and leave him with no chance. Eany kept plugging away throughout the game but the home keeper had a relatively quiet day at the office. Best for Glenree were Martin Mc Bride, Barney Boyce and Kevin Doherty.
Referee: Martin Mc Anenny
Letterbarrow Celtic 3 Bonagee United 6

Towards the end of the half Bonagee scored three goals in quick succession from Lee Mc Monagle, Noel O’ Donnell and Darren Ashmore making it 0-4 at the break. Things went from bad to worse for Letterbarrow with two more early goals from Bonagee in the 2nd half, Lee Mc Monagle and Darren Ashmore again scoring. Letterbarrow staged a strong finish with Pauric Coyle, Eoin Gallagher and the Coyle again working hard and finishing well making it 3-6. Referee: Michael Mulhern.
Ulster Junior Cup
Quigleys Point Swifts 4 Cranford United 1
Cranford fell behind early in this match and never recovered from their slow start. Despite this there wasn’t much between the sides over the piece and had it not been for some slack play from the Donegal League side the scoreline may have had a closer look to it. QPS go through as a reward for this victory.
Greencastle F.C. 1 Drumoghill F.C. 2
Richie Moore, as he often does, got Drumoghill’s first goal in this Ulster Junior Cup match against Greencastle F.C. With the sides level, 1-1, at the end of the ninety minutes extra time was needed to find a winner. Philip Whyte got the all-important goal in added time to send Drumoghill into the next round of the competition.

Glencar Inn Saturday Division Two
Drumoghill F.C. Reserves 1 Keadue Rovers Reserves 2
Drumoghill will wonder how they let this one slip as they dominated for long periods of the game yet failed to take their chances. A goal either side of half time from Ryan Green was the difference between the two teams. Drumoghill pulled one back on 70 minutes to keep the Keadue defence on their toes for the last 20 minutes. Drumoghill did have a few chances but found the Keadue keeper in good form
Cranford United Reserves 2 Mulroy Celtic 3
Cranford took the lead with a fantastic goal from their left-back Chris Molloy. It didn’t take long for Mulroy to equalise through a set piece. Kyle Black then put the home side back into the lead. Micheal Sweeney was always a danger and really drove Mulroy on in the last half an hour with two goals to see Mulroy over the line with for 3-2 victory. Best for Cranford were the Mc Bride brothers and best for Mulroy were the Sweeney Brothers.
Milford United Reserves 3 Ramelton Mariners 2
Milford upset the odds by taking all three points in a closely fought local derby. Milford pressed from the off and opened the scoring through JJ Fleming who headed in from six yards after a great cross from Ciaran Blaney. Milford kept pressing but were unfortunate to concede a penalty which Ricky Fisher dispatched. Fisher then got his second after beating the offside trap to calmly finish. The Mariners began the second half on the offensive with Enda McHugh making a fine save. Milford equalised when they broke quickly and Ciaran Blaney scored. Mariners pushed hard for the winner and created three clear cut chances but they were caught in injury time when they conceded a free kick on the edge of the box. Ciaran Gibbons stepped up and sent the ball to the top corner giving Milford a welcome three points.
Drumbar F.C. 0 Tullyvinney Rovers 3
Drumbar dominated the first 45minutes and will be kicking themselves they didn’t put away some of their numerous chances. Tullyvinney scored on 40 minutes after a great save from Kevin Mc Gurk rebounded nicely for the inrushing striker to tap in totally against the run of play. The second half was a different story with the away side playing better. They scored their second after an offside decision went against the home team. This knocked the confidence from the Drumbar players. Tullyvinney added a third late on to kill the game.
David Giblin and Daniel Bennett were best for the home side. Decent team performance from Tullyvinney Rovers.

Convoy Arsenal 4 Raphoe Town 0

Jonny Robb put Convoy ahead on twenty five minutes when he nipped in between the Raphoe keeper and defender to score. Ten minutes later Raphoe earned a penalty when Christy Bogle’s cross was poorly defended and Convoy conceded a penalty. Bogle himself missed the spot-kick and the home side went in ahead at the interval.
