The Bayview Bar in Dungloe is now demanding ID from all young people.

In a statement posted on the Bayview Bar’s Facebook page today, proprietor Patrick Boyle described as “frightening” the number of underage people in the town of Dungloe on St Stephen’s night.

Mr Boyle said the volume of underage people made it difficult to identify them particularly with older people buying them drink.

The premises is now introducing a strict ID policy and has stressed that ID will be requested at the door or gate before entry can be gained.

“The Bayview Bar appreciates its customers and love to see families enjoying themselves, but it’s important that underage drinking is stamped out.

“Unless you carry ID you will not be served drink on these premises,” the statement said.

The Bayview has been praised on social media for its stance.
