A truck driver had a miraculous escape after his lorry slid off a road in West Donegal.
It was one of a number of crashes today which occurred after a heavy frost set in across the county.
The condition of minor roads are described as “dangerous” with particular care being advised around Letterkenny, Buncrana and on the Glen Road between Loughanure and Annagry that branches off the main N56.
Motorists travelling to Loughanure from Annagry are advised that the crossroads junction in Loughanure is extremely slippy with cars sliding on the the main N56.
The articulated lorry went off the road at Crónasealg just outside Dungloe, while cars are reported off at lower Loughanure and in the wider Dungloe area.
The driver of the articulated lorry was treated at the scene in the early hours for shock and minor injuries.
Major traffic delays and diversions can be expected on this main route on the Lettermacaward side of Dungloe when efforts begin to get the lorry back on the road.
It is lying on its side in the bog and as a result it is understood a crane will be required as part of the recovery operation.
