The Yellow Wind Warning is for all Atlantic coastal counties and will be in place until 3pm tomorrow.
However gales will return on Friday as a tropical storm, or the remnants of it, hit Donegal.
Met Eireann forecaster Siobhan Ryan said temperatures will be up to 5C above normal but it would be extremely stormy.
