Donegal survived a late scare to beat Fermanagh by a single point in Ballyshannon this afternoon on a scoreline of Donegal 0-12 Fermanagh 2-5.
Rory Gallagher’s side looked to be in cruise control in this McKenna Cup game and led by seven points at half-time on a scoreline of 0-10 to 0-3.
Points for the likes of Daniel McLaughlin, Eoin McHugh, Ciaran McGinley, Neil Gallagher and Frank McGlynn put Donegal in the driving seat.
For the likes of Paul Durcan, Glenswilly man Gallagher and Eamon McGee, it was their first run out for Donegal this year.
But second half goals by Marty O’Brien and Sean Quigley left Donegal hanging on to claim full points.
Michael Murphy was a late introduction when Hugh McFadden was black-carded.
In the end it didn’t matter as, despite the victory, Donegal failed to qualify for the semi-final with not enough points racked up.
Rory Gallagher will be pleased by his first three games in charge having blooded a number of new players.
