The youth wasn’t seriously injured in the collision which occurred at the junction of Arden Road and Culmore Road, but was taken to hospital afterwards to have injuries to his ankles assessed.
PSNI officers are keen to speak with the man who was driving a Donegal registered vehicle.
Constable McAllister, the investigating officer, said that the driver did not speak to the youth’s family, nor did he provide any personal details or report the collision.
McAllister said, “We are seeking information to establish the identity of the driver.
“He is described as being in his aged in his 40s with black hair and a black moustache.
“He was driving a grey car, possibly a Porsche or a Toyota MR2, with a Donegal registration.
Information can be given on the police non-emergency number, 101, quoting reference number 1000 of January 30th 2015.
