Frances Brolly appeared before Letterkenny District Court charged with assaulting her former husband John Brolly at Cloughfin, Lifford, Co Donegal.
Ms Brolly, 49, who now lives at Dunowen Park, Clady, Co Tyrone, attacked her husband and left him needing five stitches to his head.
Her husband told investigating Gardai that he was very frightened after the incident and feared more serious harm could have been caused during the incident on December 31st, 2013.
Garda Inspector John O’Toole told the court that the windscreen of Mr Brolly’s jeep had been smashed and there were several dents to the vehicle.
Solicitor Frank Dorrian said his client had been going through a very difficult time on the day in question.
He said she was now very remorseful for what had happened.
Judge Paul Kelly said there was a complex background but that this was a very serious charge.
He adjourned the case until April 20th and ordered a probation report on Ms Brolly.
