Captain’s Drive-In
The Captains’ Drive-In took place on Saturday 7th March. The day began with an Ecumenical Service for bereaved members, after which both Captains, Manus and Moragh, showing no sign of nerves, went to the first tee and officially launched the 2015 Golfing Season.
The Greensomes competition which followed was played over the front and back nine, with a separate singles competition for the men who had no female partner for the day. Though the day was “fairly windy” there were very good scores returned for each of the nine holes. Winners;
Men’s Singles; Nigel Trimble
Back Nine; Winners, Aidan O’Doherty & Gaye McGoldrick, Runners Up, Glenn Patterson & Anna Colhoun.
Front Nine; Winners, Frank Shovelin & Carmel Brennan. Runners Up, Paul Murphy & Patsy Harkin.
Well done to all the winners and to the large crowd that participated in the event.
Men’s Competitions
Sunday 8th March saw the first of the sponsored competitions for 2015, and DONEGAL TOWN HARDWARE sponsored the Sunday competition.
Winners of this event were, 1st Dan Callaghan (18), 40 pts. 2nd Seamus Faulkner (11)36pts, bot. 3rd Gerard Gallagher (27) 36 pts, 4th Charles Gallagher (27) 35 pts. Gross Jason Conway (4) 29 pts.
The draws for the GUI qualifying competitions are on display in the locker room. The Team Selection committee are asking members to make themselves available for the competitions that they qualify for, by entering their name on the sheet on the notice board.
Ladies Competitions.
Competitions will be 15 holes for the month of March. Please note that the Competition days for next weekend’s competition sponsored by Quinn Meehan & Co are Sunday 15th and Monday the 16th of March.
Junior Registration Day
Registration for Juniors for the 2015 season takes place on Saturday the 21st of March.
Mothers Day Lunch Special in the Clubhouse Restaurant
Kathleen and staff have a Mother’s Day Special available in The Clubhouse Restaurant on Sunday the 15th of March from 1pm to 3.30pm.

Divotting Evening and Rules Night Table Quiz – Monday 30th March
A Divotting evening takes place on Monday the 30th of March at 6pm. All members are welcome and light refreshments will be provided afterwards in the Clubhouse. Following the Divotting a Rules Table Quiz will take place at 8pm.
Abbey Vocational School Classic
The Abbey Vocational School Parents Association fundraising Classic takes place on Wednesday the 29th of April.
