Malin GAA News:
DECLAN WALSH
The news broke last week of the withdrawal of Declan Walsh from the county panel. The club would like to place on record its thanks to Declan for the commitment he has shown to the county panel over the past number of years.
Declan has been involved in county squads for more than a decade and is one of a select few people to have won minor, under 21 and Senior Ulster titles. He has won three Senior Ulster titles, most notable was his two points scored in the 2012 final against Down, He came runner up in the All-Ireland final with the Under 21 team in 2010 who had a number of players struck down with sickness during the week of the final. He also came runner up in last years All-Ireland senior final but of course we all remember the pinnacle of it all when we seen our very own club player win the All-Ireland Senior Football final in 2012. The club would like to say how proud we are of Declan in his achievements. Declan currently works in Dublin and has given great sacrafice to the county cause in recent years. We wish Declan all the best for the future and know as a club that Donegal’s loss will be Malin’s gain.
Roisin Walsh recently stepped down as club secretary due to time restrictions and her position is now being filled in the interim by Elaine McColgan. The club is pleased that Roisin remians as an active club member within the club and would like to place on record their appreciation to Roisin for the proffesionalism and dedication Roisin brought to her role over the past four years. Her hardwork and enthusiasm will be hard to replace and the committee will have a hard job to replicate the efficiecy in which the club was run over the past number of years. The secreatary role is very time consuming and the club will be needing other committee and club members to step up to share the workload moving forward.
