Well the brave came out in Dunfanaghy this weekend and the weather proved a test. Well done to all who played.
We are only around the corner from Easter when the golfing season really takes off. A divot day will take place here on Good Friday the 3rd of April. Please assemble at the club at 10.50am for 11.00am start. Buckets will be provided , however if we get a large crowd (as we hope we will) it might be a good idea to bring your own. Please make every effort to help out as it will be much appreciated.
John and Cheryl now have the 32 names required for the mixed foursomes matchplay competition. A draw for matches will be made on Easter Saturday evening at 4pm in the club house. Please make every effort to attend and create a bit of atmosphere . The fee per team is €30.00 . Please pay Mary/Ruth in the shop if you have not already done so. Well done to John and Cheryl for running this competition again as it was a great success last year.
The Senior and Intermediate Scratch Cups:
The Senior and Intermediate Scratch cups are on Saturday 11th of April 2015. There are excellent prizes on offer with €300 for anyone who creates a new amateur course record. There are only limited places because it is 36 holes, so make sure to get your name down in time. You can enter by the BRS system online or contact the club on 0749136335.
Club Pro AM :
As most of you will know, Dunfanaghy Golf Club is now ranked in the top 100 courses in Ireland. In order to celebrate this achievement and to acknowledge the success of our esteemed club member, Paul McGinley, in captaining Europe to victory in the Ryder Cup, we have decided to organise a Pro-Am this year. It will be held over two days, the 13th and 14th of June. Entry fee for the team of three amateurs will be €100.00 per person.
All entries must be directed through Mary Lafferty and no entry can be confirmed until the €300.00 has been paid in full. 50 teams, at most, can be accommodated.

Everyone should have received an email in the last few weeks with details to entice new members to the club. It will benefit everyone if we are able to get more members in the club this year. Please contact a committee member if you require any further details regarding our drive to get more new members. Remember it is the time of the year for annual subscriptions to be paid. Please contact the club as soon as possible to make payment.
Come Dine with Me:
Just a little reminder that our “Come Dine with Me” evenings are fast approaching, if you have not committed to one of the following dates, the 11th April or the 2nd of May, we would really appreciate your participation, anyone who wishes to be a host on either evening, please contact Mary as soon as possible, in the clubhouse. To those of you who have already committed to a particular date, we thank you and look forward to two great nights of entertainment here at Dunfanaghy Golf Club.
4 BBB Winter Open Competition:
I know everyone will want to play in the Grand Final in June so don’t leave it too late to try to qualify. You can play in this completion on any day of the week and with who ever you wish to play so long as they have a GUI or ILGU handicap. Best of luck to everyone in April. Remember the best club team outside of 1st,2nd and 3rd qualifies for the final each month.
Function Room for Private parties:
We have hosted a number of private functions in the clubhouse recently and these have proved to be a great success. If you, or someone you know, is organising a private function, please be aware that the clubhouse is available free of charge, with exclusive use for the occasion. So far, the feedback that we have been getting is that the golf club is the ideal venue for parties of up to one hundred people. Please make contact with Sarah if you are interested in holding a function at the clubhouse (074 91 36335)
