Eamon Flood, Carnasaul, Termon admitted dangerous driving at Port Rd, Letterkenny two weeks ago – on May 3 2015.
The 23-year-old’s car was being driven on a road with a 50km/hr speed limit.
Garda Inspector Goretti Sheridan said the incident happened late at night in very wet conditions when Flood was driving his 95-registered Vauxhall Cavalier.
Flood has six previous convictions including one for carless driving, failing to wear a seatbelt and driving as a learner without an experienced driver. He also has a conviction for handling stolen goods.
Judge Paul Kelly said the offence was ‘extremely serious’.
