MET Eireann has issued a Yellow Status weather warning for Donegal today – with winds picking up this morning and gusting to 100km/hr.
The east of the country will see the worst of the weather, with Ulster escaping for a change.
But it will still be very wet – and very windy – in the North West today.
Met Eireann says southerly winds will reach mean speeds of 50-65 km/h but it will be very gusty with values of 80 to 100 km/h possible.
“The strongest winds will be in exposed areas. Winds will veer westerly,” says the warning.
It is valid from 10am today until 8pm this evening.
There will be more heavy rain on Tuesday before warmer weather arrives on Wednesday and Thursday.
