The upgrade, which will cost €1.3M, will ensure the hospital complies with the residential care standards for older people set down by Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA).
The team are currently progressing the preliminary design stage and carrying out condition surveys of the existing premises at the hospital.
The proposed works will consist of:
* Refurbishment and upgrading of the existing residential unit including maximising single and double room occupancy
* Re-planning and upgrading sanitary accommodation
* Enhancing accessibility for patients and visitors
* Providing an extended day room and dining room for patients, with a residents garden area
Improvements with regards to infection control, energy efficiency and fabric upgrade will be included in the works.
The works are planned to start on site in mid 2016 , subject to approval from HIQA and the resources being available.
The projected costs will be finalised on completion of the preliminary design stage. It is expected that costs will be in the region of €1.3 million approximately.Tags:
