The annual Taste of Donegal Food Festival kicks-off later this summer and there organisers have produced another ‘delicious’ looking line-up of events and entertainment.
Mary McGettigan’s pride for Donegal Town is electric and it drives all of her activities.
Couple this pride with a passion for food and a belief in Donegal’s Food Tourism potential, and you get a powerhouse; a driving force of Donegal’s Food Community.
Mary has again along with her colleagues produced a superb week of events for Taste of Donegal Food Festival.
Here’s some of the chef’s who will be showcasing their culinary talents this summer.
CHEF SHANE SMITH
Chef Shane Smith currently Head Pastry Chef over the Fallon & Byrne group in Dublin trained in our local Letterkenny Institute of Technology (Tourism)Killybegs Donegal,and graduated from Galway Mayo Institute of Technology with a degree in Culinary Arts, specialising in Pastry. Shane is also the In-House Chef for one of our exhibitors Coole Swan Irish Liquor, doing recipe research and development & to date has published five cookery books with the company.
CHEF MARTIN ANDERSON
Chef Martin Anderson also studied Culinary Arts at Tourism College Killybegs and is now more commonly known as “FAT CHEF SLIM” is head chef at Moonshine Coffee Shop and The Crest Catering Company. Over. the course of a year through healthy eating and exercise he lost 5st and has promoted a healthy lifestyle through his cookery Demos & through his menu’s Martin has also published his own lifestyle Cookery Book , Fat Chef Slim Recipes From The journey
CHEF ZACK GALLAGHER
From Donegal Town we have Zack Gallagher who also studied at Tourism College Killybegs and currently executive head chef at the Central Hotel and founder of the Irish food website, www.IrishFoodGuide.ie which highlights food events and promotes artisan Irish food producers & places to eat. Zack is creating Irish Food Tours, a concept which aims to provide a complete food tourism experience for inbound tour operators. He is also one of Ireland’s top-followed Twitter Foodies as @IrishFoodGuide.
CHEF ANTHONY ARMSTRONG
One of Donegal’s best-known chefs – Anthony Armstrong headed to Kinsale earlier this year to represent The Food Coast, Donegal in the 5th All-Ireland Chowder Cook-Off competition. Anthony has been a past President of the Panel of Chefs of Ireland, he has also held the role of both PR and marketing officer for the prestigious organisation.
Apart from this heavy workload, Anthony was also the culinary director of the panel of chefs and demonstration chef with the N.I Seafood/BIM and Ulster pork forum.
CHEF REMY DUPUY
Remy Dupuy is originally from Bordeaux in South West France. He trained in the famous Mazamet Catering collage. Remy head chef at Castle Murray House Hotel & Restaurant since 1995 uses his knowledge of French traditional cooking with his love of Irish ingredients to create dishes that once enjoyed will have you planning your next trip back to Castle Murray.. Great care, attention to detail is given to the design, creation and delivery of each dish on the menu, which reflects the dedication and desire for greatness which motivates Remy and his team.
