ALL COUNTY LEAGUE DIVISION 1
The senior and reserves team had no match at the weekend as Gaoth Dobhair failed to travel and Malin get the points for both matches.
This week the team are fixtured to play St. Eunan’s in Letterkenny, though match day and times yet to be confirmed.
The reserves continued thier winning form with their fourth victory in a row in the Philadelphia cup against Steelstown.
They had good performances from Terence Doherty who scored 4-03, Darragh McLaughlin, Jordan McLaughlin, Danny McCarron, Conor Byrne and Matthew Crampsey.
The Malin Gaa annual summer camp will take place from Monday the 13th -17th of July. The camp is open to all 5-13 year olds, boys and girls. A bus will be provided for the week throughout the parish. Anyone who never got the leaflet at primary school or are looking for more information regarding the camp should contact Maria McLaughlin (F) on 0877763679. The form HAS to be returned this year by the 6th of July as county board has to have numbers before the starting date.
MALIN SPORTS DAY
The malin sports day comittee recently handed over two cheques of €1310 to our two chosen charities this year of Multiple sclerosis Donegal Branch and the Parkinsons Association North West. Well done to all committee members for organising the succcessful sports day and raising this huge amount of money for charity.
The under 12’s continued their winning ways after last Sunday’s Maurice McMenamin cup victory they had a good victory over Moville last week and they are now playing Burt this week on Tuesday at half six in Connolly Park. Our under 14 team were defeated in the Inishowen A-Final by a goal by Naomh Padraig Muff in Moville on Sunday evening. The team have done well all season and it was the first time the club has reached the under fourteen final A- final in five years. They had set up the final after a great replay win over Carndonagh on Friday night. Great credit must go to team managers Martin Lafferty, Louis Walsh and Noel McLaughlin and all the players involved.
Well done to our ladies team who beat Killybegs in their first round Championship game played in Connolly Park on Sunday, they won on a scoreline of Malin Ladies 3-06 Killybegs 0-07. The second leg is away on the 12th of July. It was a great team performance and despite missing many of their regular 15, the team were helped out by many underage players like Megan Harkin. Team scorers were Linda McColgam (1-02), Mariah Doherty (2-00), Shauna Doherty (0-01), Megan Harkin (0-01) and Chelsea Stevens (0-02).
There was no winner of this weeks lotto jackpot of €1700,The numbers drawn were 7-2-3-4-1-5-6. The €50 was Hughie McDaid, Bunn, Glengad and the €20 sellers prize went to Ciara McLaughlin, Shantla, Glengad. Next weeks jackpot is €1750.
