As part of the on-going campaign to save the Cleary Centre in Donegal Town there will be a protest held outside Leinster House next Tuesday July 14th at 2pm.
Speaking in support of the campaign, Thomas Pringle, Independent TD for Donegal is calling on people to come out in support of them in the struggle to maintain residential services for Cleary’s users with intellectual disabilities.
‘The threat of dispersal of Cleary’s service users across Donegal Town is not acceptable to the families. The Parents and Friends Association are dismayed that this is the HSE’s proposal so it is imperative that the Minister steps in at this stage.’
‘The service works and has been working for people with intellectual disabilities. It makes no sense that the HSE would break this model up when a simpler more effective solution can be found. We need the Minister to oversee and take an active role in saving this centre,’ concludes Pringle.Tags:
