U10 Boys Football
Our older under 10 s headed off to play in a huge blitz in Monaghan on Saturday. Twenty one teams lined out at the Truagh Gaels club outside emyvale to compete in this annual competition. Our boys were in a group with Emyvale and Magheracloone from Monaghan and Derrynoose from Armagh. They played some excellent stuff to top their group winning all three games in the process. This brought them into a quarter final with Scotstown also from Monaghan. In a game of two halves the boys trailed by 7 points at half time. Down but not out they rallied in the second half and put in a huge effort to bring them back to within a point going into the final minutes. Hard as they tried they just couldn’t find the equaliser hitting the bar and the post in a final frantic minute. At the final whistle the boys were devastated but quickly realised that they couldn’t have done anymore and could leave with their heads held high. Even more so when it transpired that Scotstown went on to win the overall competition. The boys really enjoyed the day and will take a huge amount out of the occasion. Thanks to Truagh Gaels for an excellently run competition and to the parents who travelled to support. All in all it was a great day out. Report by Damien Dunnion (U10 manager)

The Four Masters G.A.A. Club held the Frank Muldoon Memorial Golf Competition at Donegal Golf Club (Murvagh) on Saturday 11th of July. Almost sixty golfers supported this annual event and played on an overcast dry morning and unfortunately a very wet afternoon which put a little damper on proceedings. The players that entered enjoyed golf on a well-manicured course. Rooney’s Centra, Clar Road, Donegal Town were main sponsors our thanks again to Gerry Rooney who has been supporting this event for the past number of years. The weather conditions did not effect the scoring too much and resulted in many good scores returned on the day.
Best score of the day was returned by Damien Mulhern (5) with 40 points. This was a fine score from the young Murvagh Junior golfer and got him a hamper and 1st Prize. Second Prize and a hamper went to former Donegal and Four Masters stalwart Joyce Mc Mullin (9) with a score of 37 points, Third Prize and a hamper went to Ronan Mc Alevy (19) on 36 points b.o.t. Fourth Prize went to Jason Maguire (11) on 36 points. Fifth Prize went to Eugene Griffin (18) on 35 points.
