On Friday last there was a great turnout at the Schools Cross Country in Carrickfinn.
More than 300 runners took to the line to represent their Schools and for many it was the first time to race.
Huge thanks to all the officials who ran off the event so efficiently. Category winners were: Small Schools – Keadue NS. Medium Schools – Scoil Mhuire, Doire Beaga. Large Schools – Scoil Chróine, Dungloe. The top 8 in each race move forward to the County final on November 15th.
This Sunday sees the Cross Country season kick off in Carndonagh for the Masters and Even Ages. Athletes travelling by car to the Cross Country on Sunday in Carndonagh, please arrive an hour before your proposed race time. More details on facebook page. Masters Women starts at 12pm followed by the Masters Men at 12:20 approx. Followed by Under 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 girls and boys.
Well done to Edward Harkin who was first senior man home in the Mooathon 10k at the weekend in a time of 37:28.
Cross country training continues in Magheragallon, Maghery and in Mullaghderg every Monday at 6 pm. This is open to everybody from 7 years upwards so come along and get involved. Sportshall Athletics – Monday 12 October: Sportshall Athletics starts in Ionad Spóirt na Rosann gym in Dungloe at 7 pm.
The Dublin Marathon training group completed a 35k long run last Sunday which is the longest run for most. Training will be tapering off now for the next few weeks with the October 26th date not far away. Sessions are still happening in the estate on a Wednesday evening at 7pm with long runs at the weekend.
A Level One Coaching Course will take place at a Donegal venue- 9/10 October & 30/31 October. Anybody interested please contact Ita Gallagher or Elise Gillespie, Rosses AC Secretary.
