Independent County Councillor Micheal Mac Giolla Easbuig is considering standing in the next general election, Donegal Daily has learned.
The outspoken West Donegal councillor has increased his profile significantly since being elected at last local elections.
Mac Giolla Easbuig refused to confirm or deny if he will put his name forward for the action, which is now thought to be called in spring of next year.
Mac Giolla Easbuig has been outspoken on many issues but most especially on the controversial water charges.
He has been aligned closely with sitting TD Thomas Pringle.
Sources close to Mac Giolla Easbuig confirmed “He is certainly thinking about it. He would pick up plenty of votes around The Rosses and the general West Donegal area where he has worked hard for the people since being elected.
“He would be up against it when it comes to the bigger party machines but then again not many hough Thomas Pringle would be elected on the last occasion and he ousted a former Tanaiste.”Tags:
