The horrific site of a dead horse on a main road in Letterkenny

THIS was the horrific sight visitors and locals in Letterkenny had to witness outside in the town over the weekend – a dead horse lying at the side of the road.

The poor animal was killed in a road traffic accident on New Year’s Eve, not far from the council offices.

The horse was struck when it strayed in front of a lorry.

A number of readers contacted Donegal Daily to express shock at seeing the creature still lying at the roadside two days later.

This is the latest horse to die in the area in recent months. Two animals were found drowned in the Swilly nearby last summer.
